International Men’s Health Week 2005 in Europe

A growing number of organisations and members of the EMHF network participated to the third international awareness raising week - International men's Health Week.

Joining other men’s health organisations around the world also celebrating the week before father’s day, they organised conferences and health promotion activities attended by national health policy makers. They were also the driving force behind several hundreds of other local and regional events involving GP surgeries, health authorities, patient organisations and many other groups with an interest in the development of men’s health in their area.

Among some of the 2005 activities, The Men’s Health Society (Denmark) distributed a resource pack to all Danish GPs, MHF Ireland organised drop-in information sessions on men’s health, the Men’s Health Forum (England) organised the first ever conference on men and weight, followed by the launch of the HGV manual at the British Telecom Tower, one of London’s famous landmarks.

Below is a summary of activities by country with links to their respective websites for more information. Do watch our next newsletters, as we will be reporting on some of these events very soon.

Looking forward, 2006 is already set to involve an even greater number of participants and activities. Members of the EMHF network will be meeting during the first European men’s health conference in Vienna this September to discuss their planning of next year’s men’s health week activities.
