Another leading EU commissioner has endorsed the EMF’s Vienna declaration on the health of men and boys.
Vladimir Špidla, the Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, has joined the growing list of supporters. He described the declaration as ‘an important document which focuses on one of the areas of public health which has not been receiving specific attention.’
He said: ‘In terms of equal treatment of men and women, the emphasis is indeed moving towards an understanding that equal does not necessarily mean identical and that the special health needs of both men and women need to be taken seriously.’
The former prime minister of the Czech Republic is the second EU commissioner to sign the Declaration joining Markos Kyprianou, the EU’s Commissioner for Health and Consumer Protection.
