New book could show the way for men's health in Europe

Book launchThe eyes of Europe are on Bradford in northern England, EMHF director Erick Savoye said at the launch of a ‘ground-breaking’ new book ‘Men’s Health - How to do it.’

Edited by EMHF board member Professor Alan White and David Conrad, the book is based on the pioneering work of the Bradford Health of Men (HOM) project.

Professor White told the Bradford Telegraph and Argus: ‘I have had the privilege of knowing the HOM team from its inception. From the beginning I recognised that what they were doing was ground-breaking. They are world leaders in outreach work for men.’

Erick Savoye described the book, which is a practical guide for health professionals to develop and implement tailored services to meet the needs of men and boys, as ‘a remarkable and unique masterpiece’.

He said: ‘We have all been waiting for the release of this evidence-based book with much anticipation. HOM is an outstanding example for all who are working with men on the ground. They are showing the way to all of us in Europe. I hope that this work can be translated and disseminated very soon to all corners of Europe. It can most effectively support other groups of dedicated people who work very hard indeed to ensure men and their communities can enjoy longer and healthier lives.’
