Prof Alan White is Professor of Men's Health at Leeds Metropolitan University.  In addition he is the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Men’s Health Forum for England and Wales (MHF) and Board member of the European Men’s Health Forum.

He has undertaken numerous studies into men’s health issues, for example the Scoping Study on Men’s Health for the Department of Health (available on the MHF website), an examination of the reaction of men to being admitted to hospital with acute chest pain and men’s experiences of radiotherapy following prostate cancer. His current work includes the evaluation of  a large men’s health project in a town with extensive social inequalities.  Other research interests lie in how men make decisions about their health.

Alan designed and until recently moderated the MHF database of projects and initiatives on men’s health across the United Kingdom. Through the European Men’s Health Forum did the initial developmental work on the International Database of Individuals and Organisations that work in the field of men’s health. 

Alan has had numerous articles on men’s health published and is frequently invited to speak at conferences.
