EMHF responds to the EU men’s health report

The EMHF has now published its response to the EU report The State of Men’s Health In Europe.

response documentCommissioned by the European Commission and funded through its Public Health Programme, the original report, written by a team led by EMHF chair Professor Alan White, highlights in excellent detail the parlous state of men's health in Europe. However, it doesn’t make any specific recommendations about how to improve it. That’s the gap that the EMHF's new publication seeks to fill.

EMHF president Ian Banks said: 'We have already responded to the report as a whole highlighting our concern at the fact that twice as many men of working age (16-64) die as women across the EU27 countries. This publication includes our specific recommendations for the various areas. We need a wide-ranging and fundamental change in policy including the specific targeting of men of working age. We hope our response document will help point the way.'
